Australian Firm Fits Its High-tech Carbon Wheels On A Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) GT

An Australian firm has managed to secure a multi-million dollar deal that will see it supply high-tech carbon wheels to Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) for the Ford GT.

The firm which is known as Carbon Revolution managed to secure the contract to create high-tech wheels that will be fitted onto the $500,000 GT supercar made by Ford. A total of 63 firms will provide parts to the automaker for the development of the Ford GT. The contract is a huge deal for Carbon Revolution as far as expanding its portfolio is concerned. The Geelong firm was selected by Ford because it has perfected the art of manufacturing carbon fiber wheels as well as automating its production so that it can serve a wider market.

Ford announced the contract on Tuesday. They will hire 100 more employees so that they can focus on the production process. The spotlight is now on the firm to manufacture carbon wheels that are ideal for the supercar from Ford. The wheels will be made using lightweight carbon fiber. The wheels are supposed to help shed weight bellow the suspension and at the same time assist in boosting the performance of the vehicle.

This is not the first time that Carbon Revolution is working with Ford. It was also selected to supply wheels for the Ford Mustang Shelby 350 in 2015. The Shelby 350 costs $56,000. Ford has also revealed that the Ford GT will only be manufactured with Left-hand drive.

The Ford GT is one of the most highly anticipated vehicles by supercar fans. It was given a perfect ten by Forbes magazine on the Libido Meter. It is also expected to be a worthy challenger to exotic European vehicles in the same segment such a Bugatti, Lamborghini, and Ferrari. Ford intends to make 500 units of the GT model in the next two years. Unfortunately, the number of vehicles will not be enough for the ready market. So far 6,500 customers have applied to purchase the vehicle meaning that only one in every 13 aspiring owners will get to own one.
