Destiny 2 Is Still Coming This Year, Activision Blizzard, Inc. (NASDAQ:ATVI) Says

Fans anticipating updates for Destiny can now breathe a sigh of relief after Activision Blizzard, Inc. (NASDAQ:ATVI) broke the news. Activision has confirmed that Destiny 2 is still on track for 2017. In an update, Activision says the 2017 edition will seek to broaden the brand’s global reach which in addition with other plans, set the foundation for growth.

Although organizers may request more time to fine-tune and add more content to beef it up, Activision can’t afford to miss out on this year’s hefty chunk just in case Bungie misses this years for Destiny 2. Much of Bungie employees’ stock is based on game releases, Destiny 2 included. This offers Activision more incentive to release the sequel this year.

Destiny 2 fans had been of worry due to scanty information that this year’s edition may be delayed. Bungie gave early indications and ended up showing some features and plot points that have never it to the final stage. During this year’s edition, they are doing everything available to avoid the perennial mistakes. This implies information concerning the game may remain scanty until near launch.

The road map is most like to feature Destiny 1 followed by Destiny 2 with a launch this coming fall.

A lot of people are already lined up for this one. Some corners of information have revealed that at least three additional Activision studios are working on the game to add on what Bungie is doing. Destiny 2 will also be coming to PC, and is likely to cause a total overhaul.

Despite of the two announcements, the speed of production is still behind compared to what was witnessed in Year One. Year One saw the release of one $40 DLC, vanilla game and two $20 DLCs just in a period  one year.  The good thing about could be a spring release of the paid DLC and may be the full sequel in spring 2017.

At this point it is hard to know additional information without additional cues regarding size of the DLC and the sequel.

Activison’s stock moved northwards by 1.38% or $0.54 to close at $39.73 in yesterday’s trading session.
