Cisco Systems, Inc (NASDAQ:CSCO) has made a much awaited announcement today. Through one of its top executives, it revealed that that its global ecosystem of customers, partners and developers were showing great support for the company’s ambitious vision for a new era of networking.

The company’s new network showcases state-of-the-art capabilities when it comes to recognizing intent, mitigating threats as well as learning overtime.

The new network speaks volumes about the investments the top provider has made over the years in the areas of research and development. Since the establishment of Cisco, it has been very clear that the provider has remained dedicated to the idea of re-inventing networking for an age where network engineers would be empowered  in such a way that they will be in a position to manage hundreds of devices. That might just turn out to be reality by 2020.

It is however crucial to point out the fact that most of those providers managing their networks using the traditional IT processes might soon have a rude awakening. This is because new technological advancements are sweeping across the world from different angles and thus it might be difficult for them to scale into this new age.

According to Yahoo, the company’s approach is such that it develops an intuitive system which constantly learns, adapts, and protects, to optimize network operations not forgetting how far it moves towards defending against today’s evolving threat landscape.

The senior vice president of product management for enterprise networking, Scott Harrell while recently speaking to some top news reporters said, “Cisco is delivering a more intuitive system that automates the edge of the network and embeds machine learning and analytics at a foundational level. Intent-based networking signifies a paradigm shift for our industry and a completely new era of networking.”
