The stock of Boston Scientific Corporation (NYSE:BSX) closed at $27.05 gaining 0.30% in yesterday’s trading session. About 15 companies succeeded to get the Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award and Boston was one of them. The award was given as a form of recognition to the various employers for the continued support they gave to employees who were in the National Guard or the reserves.
The company’s CEO, Mike Mahoney last Friday attended the ceremony at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C where he received the award. This Marlborough-based provider is the one and only in the whole of New England to have received the award this year.
Other companies that got the award included Comcast Corporation (NASDAQ:CMCSA), based in Philadelphia, New Jersey; Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:JNJ) and Cargill, Inc based in Philadelphia.
At a pre-awards reception held the previous week, Mahoney stated, “As a global medical technology company, we value the leadership, courage and skills that our service employees develop in the military. We are extremely proud of them and applaud their service to our country, our communities and our company — they are an inspiration to us all.”
Boston Scientific did not immediately have the required number of workers either in the reserves or in the National Guard. However, the company’s spokeswoman came out clearly to outline that they were paying full salary for the first 30 days of military leave. From there, the company proceeded to pay out differently for the remainder which was almost 5-year duration of the cumulative deployment time.
Also, it has been providing quite flexible work policies that have been successfully accommodating the needs of reservists. The various network employees benefited a huge deal since they found the perfect opportunity to volunteer, network as well as advocate for all those on active duty, veterans and their families as well.
One of the officials working with Boston Scientific said that the award was sure proof that they were headed to the right direction. He said that they were going to be even more vigilant towards reaching their set goals.
