The stock of Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) closed at $84.16 gaining 2.02% in yesterday’s trading session. The attempt by Broadcom (NASDAQ:AVGO) to take over QUALCOMM, Inc (NASDAQ:QCOM) has raised concerns among two business giants. These are Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) and Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT).
The private concerns expressed by the two companies sprouted from thoughts that Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) had been exerting its influence over the deal as was disclosed by sources familiar with the matter. The other concern has been that Broadcom has always had this culture of trying to cut down costs as opposed to taking full advantage of the various technological advancements that are usually witnessed with the passage of time.
It was last month that Qualcomm proceeded to turn down a $105 billion bid and the move led to Broadcom putting in place changes in plan. One of them was moving ahead to nominate a new slate of board directors for the San Diego-based company and that took place earlier this week.
Many at times, regulators check out for industry input whenever it comes to making their judgment regarding whether to approve any particular deal or not. Qualcomm has broken its silence over the matter citing that it has antitrust concerns in relation to the foreseen potential Broadcom takeover.
This company has called upon Google, Microsoft and other associated companies to quit making any leading public statements pointing to striking out the deal. Qualcomm has been reviewing quite much in the recent times and among its concerns has been on whether or not Broadcom will be able to increase its $70-per-share offer .It is making this particular consideration before resolving whether or not to take a firmer stance against a possible deal.
Market analysts have made their projections in relation to the matter taking the stand that a Broadcom transaction for Qualcomm might be what is needed towards improving Apple’s relationship with the chipmaker.
Qualcomm’s spokesperson during an interview opined, “We would not make this offer if we were not confident that our common global customers would embrace the proposed combination.”The reporters were not able to interview Microsoft’s spokesperson because they couldn’t trace him.
