The latest MacBook Pro from Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has secured higher sales numbers than its rivals in the same category just five days after its launch.
According to a report from research firm Slice Intelligence, Apple’s new MacBook Pro tripled the sales that Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) reported from its Surface Book in 2015. More impressively is that the information represents the sales numbers of the MacBook Pro in the first five days after it was launched. The Surface Book is the biggest rival to the New MacBook Pro. This means that the gap is wider when it comes to other major rivals in the same categories such as Asus Chromebooks and Inspiron computers from Dell Inc. (NASDAQ:DELL).
The only other computer that has achieved similar sales numbers is the 12-inch MacBook. According to the research firm, the new notebook has reported roughly 78% of the sales numbers that were generated by the 12-inch MacBook, which was released on April 10 last year. The research data provided by Slice Intelligence represents an analysis carried out on more than 4.4 million shoppers.
“Just five days in, the MacBook Pro models had already hit almost 80% of combined 2015 and 2016 MacBook sales – and look set to exceed 18 months of sales in the first week,” stated 9TO5Mac.
One of the most notable features of the new MacBook Pro is the multitouch glass toolbar which allows the user to interact with software using their fingers. The device comes in 13-inch and 15-inch variants. The device also features the MacOS Sierra operating system and a faster processor.
One of the reasons why the new MacBook Pro is doing so well in terms of sales might be the fact that it received much-awaited upgrades. The performance is also similar to that of the iPhone 6 which also did quite well when it was launched because it was also a major refresh of the iPhone product line.
Apple stock closed the latest trading session at $110.88.
