Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) Digital Assistant May Accommodate Control Of Data Centers

Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) digital assistant Alexa has been revamped such that it will respond to commands seeking a weather report or better still to order a pizza. However, the company feels it’s not there yet. It is eyeing the control of data centers to which it will aim to provide servers or storage in the cloud using Alexa.

From the ongoing trials, Amazon claims that IT professionals will soon be able to use Alexa to control AWS deployments. To some extent, they will ask for re-deployment of a given workload from one AWS region to another.

Professionals will use voice commands to perform common data center operations

Alexa has so far captured the public’s imagination.  Among the many tasks it has been performing, it is now becoming a darling to many professionals and administrators.

Apparently, there is a wave among many companies of updating software, which is expected to facilitate efficiency in collaboration of teams.  Janakiram, an IT consultant says, “There is an emerging concept called VoiceOps—DevOps handled through voice.”

DevOps is all about a combination of development and operations functions. Teams will no longer be separate and on the other level developers will have more concern over features and functions built in any software. More often than not such cases have been left at the mercy of operations department but many institutions are now countering them.

Alongside its voice control, Amazon has enhanced its Fire TV Stick faster

Just before the news of the new functionality of Alexa could settle down, Amazon had another surprise. It has refreshed its Fire TV Stick, which will not only be powered by a powerful quad-core processor but will also sport an improved Wi-Fi tucked in its small shell. The new device has incredible performance according to Amazon’s Devices International Vice President, Jorrit Van der Meulen.

Notably, it has been selling fast in the UK and despite having been redesigned; its cost of £39.99 is still manageable. Shipping to customers will begin on April 6, hence there is still room for pre-ordering it. In the meantime, Amazon’s stock was trading at $856.44 an increase of $11.37 or 1.35%.
