Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) Google Upgrades Gboard Keyboard To Support Voice Typing

Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) Google says it has enhanced its Gboard app for iPhones to include a voice transcription feature. The search giant has a couple of interesting apps on the iOS platform but this particular one has garnered the most popularity. Anyone who installs the app will be able to speak and have text typed at the same time.

The Gboard app has improved further to accommodate the translation of more than 15 languages. Among these are Greek, Hungarian, Russian, Romanian, Finnish, Croatian and Turkish among others. It will also avail various options of cartoon icons known as emojis.

Not the only new features in store for Gboard users on iOS

Google has been seeking ways to enhance its products and services. Hence the new enhancement is significant but nevertheless, it will not leave it at that. The company has eased the access of Google Doodles, the animations that recognize anniversaries, notable people or holidays.

A simple touch of the keyboard’s “G” search button will enable the animation of any news on the Doodle. A support page on Google captions, “Gboard will remember words you type to help you with spelling or to predict searches you might be interested in, but this data is stored only on your device,”

Gboard hit the market in May 2016 and to date it has been a success story for Google. It began with only five languages; French, German, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese but now has a total of 15 languages.

Nonetheless, there have been issues in regards to privacy, which Google says have been resolved. The company has sent out assurances that no messages on Gboard are passed onto its servers. In the meantime, Alphabet’s stock was trading at $851.00 a fall of $0.36 or 0.04%.
