Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) CEO Mark Zuckerberg has taken to his social media platform to discuss the live video of Philando Castile’s shooting.

The live video was recorded by Castile’s girlfriend, Diamond Reynolds shortly after the shooting took place. The video went viral on Facebook, but the company later took down the video but then restored it shortly afterward. The clip has now been viewed 4.5 million times since it was posted on Wednesday. The video has provoked some questions about broadcasting sensitive content on the platform. Zuckerberg talked about some of these issues through his post which was also a response to the shooting incident recorded via Facebook Live. The CEO also gave his condolences to Castile’s girlfriend and his family.

Zuckerberg also expressed sympathy to the Facebook community who are disturbed by the event. This is also not the first time that such an incident has taken place. Americans and especially the African American community have been outraged by numerous incidents where police brutality has led to the death of innocent lives. Zuckerberg stated that the images that have been circulating on social media this week have been heartbreaking though they highlight the fear that is prevalent in society on a daily basis. The CEO also stated that such incidents are the reason there is a need for a more connected world.

The Facebook executive did not reveal anything about censorship in his statement though he highlighted the social media platform as a tool for imparting change. The company’s decision to restore the video on the Facebook social platform also highlights the company’s decision to be more lenient on the content despite the graphic nature depending on how it influences society.

Reynolds also posted a second video on Facebook Live expressing gratitude to the Facebook community for the support they offered, and she also stated that her request and that of the family is that they get justice.
