3D Systems Corporation (NYSE:DDD) has announced the release of the next-generation Cimatron software. The company has said that version 13 comes with more enhanced capabilities, including that it significantly speeds up productivity and affords users a lower design and manufacturing overhead.
DDD’s software is used in in the production process of molds, dies and other discrete parts. Cimatron forms part of the company’s commitment to provide its clients with end-to-end solutions. According to DDD, the software has become a key component in the manufacturing workflow of molds, dies and other tool-makers.
Easing tools production pressure
3D Systems Corporation (NYSE:DDD) believes that the updated Cimatron will provide tool shops with better flexibility in creating tools and parts. The software is expected to help those tool shops produce products faster and easier. As such, it should pave way for cost-saving and bottom-line improvement for customers who take advantage of it.
DDD has launched Cimatron 13 at a time when tool shops are said to facing pressure to remain competitive.
Outcome from Cimatron 13 beta testing
In a press release, 3D Systems Corporation (NYSE:DDD) said that Bastech, a well-known provider of additive manufacturing solutions, test 13 during beta trial. Bastech used 13 as part of its comprehensive workflow and noticed that the software tool speeded up its design process in the manufacturing of molds.
The finished molds manufactured with the support of 13 were inspected before DDD’s inspection software known as Geomagic Control was brought it to help with another around of inspection.
At the end of the day, Bastech noticed that using DDD’s Cimatron 13 helped it improve production in a number of ways. For instance, it was able to shorten the design time and cut the amount of time required for manufacturing. Costs of production also dropped.
The measurements provided by 3D Systems Corporation (NYSE:DDD) from Bastech show that Cimatron 13 cut mold design time by 70% and production cost by 16%. Improvement in product quality was also observed.
