Nokia Corp (ADR) (NYSE:NOK) Launches A Customized Digital Assistant Aimed At Telecom Operators And Engineers

A customized digital assistant named ‘MIKA’ has been developed by Nokia Corp (ADR) (NYSE:NOK) and is aimed at improving the efficiency of telecom operators by offering engineers faster access to critical information. By offering automated assistance, the digital assistant will not only help in saving time but will also allow the engineers to concentrate on critical tasks. MIKA is an acronym for Multi-Purpose Intuitive Knowledge Assistant.

“MIKA taps into the power of the Nokia AVA platform to provide quick and accurate answers, avoiding time wasted on fruitless searches. It is customized to support the specific needs of telecoms,” the Head of Global Services at Nokia, Igor Leprince, said in a statement.

Specifically for telecoms

Nokia now becomes the first firm to develop a digital assistant aimed at the telecommunications industry. The digital assistant uses a combination of automated learning and augmented intelligence in order to offer access to a wide range of documents, data sources and tools.

MIKA will have access to the Nokia AVA knowledge library which is a repository of the best practices that have been gathered from projects that Nokia has undertaken from around the globe. MIKA can then offer recommendations based on similar problems experienced in other networks using the knowledge library. Nokia’s digital assistant is available as a mobile agent as well as through a web interface. It is thus possible for engineers to access it wherever they may be stationed.

Predictive repair service

The Finnish telecommunications firm also launched a predictive repair service that aids operators in reducing costs and improving network quality by embracing hardware maintenance and moving away from break-fix approaches. Nokia revealed that the predictive service will be able to foretell hardware failures and issue recommendations for replacements up to two weeks in advance. The service will have an accuracy rate of 95%.

Nokia’s launching of MIKA comes in the lead-up to the Mobile World Congress where the tech giant is expected to make a comeback to the mobile phone space.

In Friday’s trading session shares of Nokia Corp fell by 1.69% to close the day at $4.64.
