First Real Estate Investment Trust of New Jersey (FREIT) is an equity real estate investment trust (REIT). The Company acquires, develops, constructs and holds real estate properties for long-term investment and not for resale. The Company operates through two segments: residential properties and commercial properties. Its developed properties include residential apartment communities and commercial properties that consist of multi and single tenanted properties. Its properties are located in New Jersey, Maryland and New York. Its real estate holdings include over seven apartment buildings or complexes containing a total of approximately 1,090 rentable units, 10 commercial properties (retail and office) containing approximately 1,265,000 square feet of leasable space, including a single tenant store, two separate one acre parcels subject to ground leases, and over three parcels of undeveloped land consisting of approximately 7.37 acres in total.
