Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s Music Service Partners With Vice To Launch Documentary

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has teamed up with Vice through Apple Music to launch a new documentary that probes into the music industry all over the world.

Apple Music has more than 11 million subscribers so far and the company has expanded the scope of offerings from just music to include documentaries on artists such as DJ Khaled and Taylor Swift. The company has been offering video content that takes a look at some of the heavy hitters in the music scene. The recent exclusive offering on Apple is The Score which will be launched through joint efforts from Apple Music and Vice.

The Score is a documentary that is made up of six parts that dwell on the music scene from different parts of the world. The first part focuses on the American rap scene especially in Red Lake, Minnesota. Sources claim that each part of the documentary will feature a special playlist on Apple Music that will give the viewers a more immersive look into what is happening out there. The first part of the documentary is already available for viewing.

The music in the first part is called “Reservation Rap” and it was inspired by the history and culture of the Ojibwa people. The other episodes of the documentary will feature the Vice team traveling to places like Vietnam, Brazil, Iceland and other places. The Score is yet another content offering that aims to give viewers a richer experience. In February the company launched a new TV show called Vital Signs which featues Dr. Dre. The company may not be looking to make money from the content but rather to widen the iOS ecosystem more attractive so that it can maintain viewers as well as attracting others.

Apple is not the only firm that is adopting videos to accommodate videos. YouTube Red and Spotify have also taken a similar approach with some of their offerings. The Documentary also highlights Apple’s vision for the growth of its music streaming service.
