Amazon.com, Inc (NASDAQ:AMZN) sellers are pushing for the establishment of a new returns policy. They hope it will play a significant role towards making it easier for consumers to send back items at the merchants’ expense.

Some of the market sellers usually prefer shipping products from their garage, home or warehouse in opposition to using Amazon’s facilities. In an email sent yesterday, they were advised that starting Oct. 2 items they sell will be “automatically authorized” for return.

As a matter of fact, buyers will be set free from the burden of having to contact the seller before sending back an item. At the same time, the merchant won’t be communicating with the customer.

The email stated, “Customers will be able to print a prepaid return shipping label via the Online Return Center instantly.” The other thing is that Amazon will be unveiling its “returnless refunds,” a feature which the provider says is requested by quite a large number by sellers. The change has been appreciated by various sellers since it enables them provide a refund without necessarily having to take back an item that may be difficult to resell or ship.

An email from a third-party seller outlined that such policies might end up crushing small businesses that fulfill their own orders. Reportedly, online forums are at the moment lighting up with angry sellers. In regards to subject of returnless refunds, one merchant stated that customers are used to getting things from them for free.

The second one saw that as a big joke. He was wondering just how Amazon could move ahead to assume that a buyer would never lie. It didn’t make sense to him and he says it would cultivate the culture of buyers lying about the reason for the return. The motive would be to evade paying for the products.

A third one described the company’s decision as one that was going to encourage the `semi’ honest buyers to join and merge with the full fledged `scammers’. This would be at the expense of the various sellers.
