The UnitedHealth Group Inc (NYSE:UNH) has donated $ 39,000 to two community organizations; the Chelan Valley Hope (CVH) and Lake Chelan Lutheran Church (LCLC) to help them implement new programs that would improve the service delivery coordination and individualized healthcare services to the senior citizens living in the remote Washington communities.
United healthcare organization intends to identify and support various organizations within Washington State by awarding them grants to help aged, disabled, and less fortunate individuals to experience better and healthier lives.
Washington ranks 42nd position in the country for community support of the elderly citizens according to the recently conducted America’s Health Rankings Senior Report. About half of the seniors aged 65 and above reported that their health was in good condition.
According to Doug Bowes, the CEO of the UnitedHealthcare Community Plan located in Washington, the grants will help the two community partners to expand their critical personal health care assistance to the seniors.
It will also improve the care coordination required by the underprivileged seniors in remote areas that are largely inaccessible due to poor transportation network and lack of adequate healthcare experts.
The Chelan Valley Hope will obtain an award of $15,500 grant to launch its Tender Loving Care for Seniors Program to enable them improve the elders’ health conditions through the unlimited support offered by the trained volunteers. The funds will facilitate more than 30 in-home assistants to help the seniors.
The Lake Chelan Lutheran Church will also receive $23,500 funds to finance a home-visit program for seniors experiencing limited mobility. The program will facilitate the movement of registered nurses as they review the conditions of the patients and ensuring they have access to health care services. The program will identify the elderly people prone to high blood pressure and other conditions that require close supervision.
Earlier in the year, the United Healthcare organization also awarded $30,000 funds to the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA to support a program that will help children’s physical exercise and physical activity with the intention of fighting childhood obesity and physical inactivity among kids.
