Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is building a new store in Chicago and it could be the most unique looking Apple Store because the roof is shaped like a MacBook.

According to a report from online news website DNAinfo, the new Apple store in Chicago will feature glass walls and a carbon fiber roof. The construction crew placed the company’s logo on the roof on Thursday, thus completing the MacBook look for the roof. However, it has been reported that the logo was removed shortly. Aerial photos taken earlier revealed the MacBook shape including the curves as well as the Apple logo. The new store is situated at Pioneer Court, 401 N. Michigan Avenue.

Apple has been working on increasing the number of Apple Stores located globally and the new store in Chicago is just one of the new locations to be added. Apple might have placed its logo on the roof to see how it will look once the building is finally completed. It was probably removed because the company did not want to spoil the surprise.

Apple’s new store in Chicago is expected to act as the flagship store in Illinois. This explains why they employed the unique MacBook design. The new Apple Store in Chicago has been in the pipeline for quite a while.

“Our store on North Michigan Avenue has welcomed more than 23 million customers since it opened in 2003, and we’re now creating something even more remarkable for Chicago,” stated Apple’s spokesman Nick Leahy two years ago.

The new Chicago Apple Store was designed by a French firm called Foster+Partners, and it will span 20,000 square feet. It is quite a huge store that will extend from Pioneer Court to the riverfront. The store is still under construction though it is almost coming to a completion. Apple is yet to reveal the opening date for the new store. However, there is speculation that it will be opened before the end of the year.

Apple stock closed the latest trading session on Friday at $146.28.
