Cheetah Mobile Inc (ADR) (NYSE:CMCM) which makes such popular mobile utility applications as Battery Doctor, CM Security and Clean Master has unveiled an app for live broadcasting for its Indian users. The Live.me app can now be downloaded on App Store for Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iOS users or via Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) Google Play for users of Android.
The app will offer features for video broadcasting. To interact with audiences users will use interactive stickers which employ face-mapping technology. Users will also be able to buy digital gifts such as emojis for their favorite live broadcasters. The digital gifts are localized and will include popular Indian snacks such as samosas.
Social media integration
There will also be social media integration for the app and this will let users share or promote their live broadcast content to friends and followers.
In order to develop fan communities, Cheetah Mobile plans to promote Indian artists via promotions and live events both on the app as well as on social media. The app also has a feature which identifies sensitive or strong or unacceptable language in both Hindi and English which it then blocks. There is also a community reporting feature to prevent abuse of the platform.
At the moment some of the influencers on Live.me that users can engage with include artists such as RJ Kalpesh, Vishakha Sodha, Nalin Swami, Shruti Singh, Avanie Joshi, Sonel Singh, Shahzan Mujeeb, and RJ Diamond. During the launch of Live.me, the vice president of Cheetah Mobile, Yuki He, noted that the platform was developed to promote creativity and expression.
“Live.me is a platform of expression and creativity. We recognize the bursting creativity and passion among the people in India and we are proud to bring Live.me to empower this passion and bring it alive,” he said.
Talent discovery
According to Cheetah Mobile the Indian subcontinent has a huge number of artists in various genres and mediums in all corners of the country who have no platform to showcase their talent. Live.me will, however, give them an opportunity to reach an audience that is not limited by geography or distance.
On Wednesday shares of Cheetah Mobile Inc rose by 6.29% to close the day at $11.49.
