New Android Wear From Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) Launches On February 9

Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) is ready to launch its two Android Wear 2.0 Smartwatches according to the famous American blogger and phone leaker, Evan Blass. The new products, Watch Sport and Watch Style will be introduced on Feb 9 alongside other anticipated updates. Rumor has it that the Smartwatches will be powered by the latest version of Android Wear, which is also slated to become available next month.  Further claims indicate that Google has been working with LG, efforts that have resulted in the launch of the first ever Smartwatches.

Apparently, there has been mixed excitement about Smartwatches and a majority are of the opinion that the 2.0 might just be the savior. Notable features of the LG Smartwatches according to VentureBeat include Google Assistant integration.

More in terms of features

Each of the models has unique features the likes of a circular 1.2-inch 360×360 pixel display, 512MB of RAM and 240mAh battery for the Watch Style and 1.38-inch 480×480 screen, 768MB of RAM and a 430mAh battery for the Watch Sport.

In addition, they will both sport built-in Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, features that will facilitate navigation in a similar way to Apple’s iWatch. They will be able to accommodate 4GB of storage.

Launch of Wear 2.0 delayed by redesigning of OS

The Android Wear market has been stagnant for a couple of months now. A majority of vendors have been shying away from new products due to the dominance of the older smart watches as well as a lukewarm market. However, the launch of 2.0 would not have come any earlier because on response to the developer’s comments, the need to redesign its OS arose.

Nonetheless, a caption on the Wear 2.0 web page states, “Get ready for the next version of Android Wear! Support stand-alone Wear devices and apps. Create enhanced user interaction and glanceable experiences. Test your apps on Wear devices.”

Meanwhile, Alphabets stock closed at $829.02 witnessing an increase $1.56 or 0.19%.
