Windstream Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:WIN) Announces 5 New Fiber Routes Added To 100G Network

Windstream Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:WIN) has announced that it has introduced five new fiber routes strategically placed in its 100G network.

Windstream’s new fiber routes will bring the company closer to its commitment of offering largeer bandwidth solutions as well as offering cloud connectivity to customers especially between the main interconnection points. The new fiber routes were set up as part of the network communications provider’s merger with EarthLink Holdings Corp. (NASDAQ:ELNK). Some of the advantages to be offered to customers include enhanced reliability, more bandwidth capacity, and a more diverse network.

Windstream will strengthen its portfolio courtesy of the five new fiber routes

Windstream’s new fiber routes are very important in the modern business world and especially in handling the data demands of cloud operators, data centers, international carriers and content providers. They will also offer significant support to the company’s portfolio of solutions including optical waves, MPLS and Dedicated Internet Access as well as MEF 2.0 Certified Carrier Ethernet.

Connecting several markets in the deep South, as well as along the Gulf Coast and the East Coast, these routes offer Windstream Wholesale customers even greater network efficiency and performance, along with access to our entire scalable, secure fiber solutions suite,” stated Buddy Bayer, Windstream’s VC of transport engineering.

Bayer further added that the company’s unique route from Miami to Atlanta will offer diverse and low latency 100G connectivity to its international customers in tier 1, 2 and 3 markets throughout the country. The new fiber routes also open doors for market expansion especially by international carriers especially those that operate in Latin America.

The merger between Windstream and EarthLink is also expected to bring a few other benefits to the network provider’s enterprise and wholesale customers. Some of those benefits include new carrier hotels and data centers to Windstream’s network as well as access to roughly 445 new Point of Presence locations.

The new fiber routes also strengthen Windstream’s transformation into a nationwide provider of high bandwidth transportation to its clients. The new routes, therefore, play a key role in the company’s future plans.

Windstream stock closed the latest trading session at $4.45 after climbing by 3.25 percent from the previous close.
