Vitamin Shoppe Inc (NYSE:VSI) has announced that its board of directors approved the expansion of the size of the board to eleven directors. The company also added that Guillermo Marmol had been appointed as the new member of the board of directors. His appointment is effective as of February 29, 2016. Marmol will also serve as a member of the Nomination and Governance Committee

Marmol has been the acting president of Marmol & Associates, a consulting firm that provides advisory service and investment capital to developing technology companies. He has been the chairperson of this associate from March 2007 to now and before that from October 2000 to 2003.

He has also served as Division Vice President and a Member of the Executive Committee of Electronic Data System Corporation between 2003 and 2007.He has also served as a director and Chief Executing Officer of Luminant Worldwide Corporation from 1998 to 2000. During 1995 to 1998, he was the vice president and Chair of the Operating Committee of Perot System Corporation. He started his career at McKinsey & Company rising to senior positions in the firm. He became the Director and Senior Partner of the company from 1990 to 1995. He was also a leader of the organization and business process redesign practice.

Richard Markee, who is the Non-Executive Chairman of the Board of the Vitamin Shoppe, noted that the company has continued to diversify its board with the aim of adding an individual who can bring knowledge in different disciplines that will contribute to the growth and success of the enterprise.

He noted that the company is implementing a customer experience reinvention strategy and a critical part of this strategy lies with his digital experience. They expect Marmol will be in a position to contribute immensely. Markee noted that Marmol would bring a wealth of experience and a valuable perspective that will bring positive impact to the future of the company.

Recently Vitamin Shoppe announced that the board of directors set April 12, 2016, as the date when they will determine if stockholders are entitled to vote at the 2016 Annual Meeting of Stockholders. The meeting has been scheduled to take place on June 7, 2016.
