Leaks of the 2018 Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) Mustang have appeared in a promotional video with the most prominent feature being styling updates. Headlights, for instance, are now smaller while there has been a redesign on the Mustang’s low air intake. In the area surrounding the Mustang’s LED daytime lights, the outer edges of the front clip have undergone some reworking.

Very little change has occurred to the rear with the only difference being the tail lights having undergone some small tweaks. The promotional video did not, however, reveal anything about the interior of the 2018 Ford Mustang.

Jointly produced

The 2018 Ford Mustang features a 10-speed automatic transmission. This transmission was developed by Ford in conjunction with General Motors Company (NYSE:GM). The sports exhaust has also been revamped and quad rear tailpipes have been introduced.

In some markets, the Mustang will also be offered with a revamped handling kit that is track-oriented and has been dubbed ‘Performance Package 2’. It consists of larger brakes, high-performance dampers, and stiffer springs.

Another updated feature is the ‘Carbon Sport pack’ though no information has been provided on whether it will mean a carbon finish on the dashboard or body panels with reduced weight. Other features that the Ford coupe will possess in both the V8 and EcoBoost models include MagneRide dampers which are reputed to induce a damper performance improvement that is equal to that of the Shelby GT350.

V6 model may be ended

In Australia, Ford is expected to continue offering two models of the Mustang. These models are the V8 and the four-cylinder EcoBoost. On the global stage, speculation has been rife that the V6 entry-level model will be killed off.

From the moment the leaks were made public, there were mixed reactions with some of the critics likening it to a zombie look. Some customers who had already ordered a Mustang are disappointed that they will get an older version instead of the new one. Others on the order queue are relieved not to be getting the 2018 version.

In Monday’s trading session, shares of Ford Motor Company edged up by 0.32 percent to close the day at $12.63.
