Verizon Communications Inc (NYSE:VZ) believes time has finally come for users to gain quick access to true wireless gigabit speeds.

Verizon, QUALCOMM, Inc (NASDAQ:QCOM) and Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC) have achieved 953 Mbps in a commercial network deployment in Boca Raton, Florida.

A series of lab tests have in the recent months indicated comparable speeds. Experts say that it is the fastest announced speed witnessed in real world conditions. The dynamic network environment leverages the Licensed Assisted Access (LAA) technology.

The cell site, software, hardware and backhaul are some of Verizon’s commercial network components that the demonstration took advantage of. Verizon’s reliable network infrastructure has helped.

The micro Radio 2205 for LAA is known for providing small dimensions, superior performance and mounting. Fundamentally, it is developed for unlicensed spectrum use. It also happens to be a significant component of the Ericsson Radio System. An end-to-end modular radio network portfolio of software and hardware is also required in a major way.

It is designed in such a way that it fits into a wide array of traffic scenarios and site types. At the moment, networks seem to be growing both in complexity and scale as the world heads towards 5G.

A Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 835 mobile platform test device was offered by Qualcomm Technologies. It was characterized with a Gigabit LTE capability and that is many thanks integrated Snapdragon X16 LTE modem. Verizon happened to be the first wireless provider to unveil the 4G LTE speeds which resulted in an ecosystem of data sharing and video viewing at a fast pace.

The Chief Wireless Network Officer for Verizon, Nicola Palmer opines, “By continuing to deploy the latest technologies on our 4G LTE Advanced network, we pave the way for better and faster performance for the things our customers do now.”
