Is Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) Going to Ban Trump?

TwitterTwitter

Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) believes that President Donald Trump’s tweets are good for the world and he should keep using the microblogging site to express his thoughts.

But many people are not happy with Trumps’ tweeting habit. Critics say that Trump should be banned because he uses his personal Twitter account just to threaten his opponents and promote apparently false news.

According to Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, there is no better way than Twitter to hold global leaders accountable. He is a favor of Trump using Twitter to talk to the public – and that’s good for his company, too.

“I believe it’s really important to hear directly from our leadership,” Dorsey said on NBC. “And I believe it’s really important to hold them accountable. And I believe it’s really important to have these conversations out in the open, rather than have them behind closed doors.”

Dorsey said that it wouldn’t be “good for anyone” to ban Trump from Twitter.

“So if we’re all to suddenly take these platforms away, where does it go? What happens? It goes in the dark. And I just don’t think that’s good for anyone.”

This is the second time Dorsey defended Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR)’s decision not to stop from using its microblogging site. Last month, the CEO told Backchannel that he thinks of Twitter a better way to hold our leaders accountable.

“Any time we have any leader tweet, including Trump, there’s a very interesting and thriving conversation. A mixture of fact checking, disagreement, agreement, and some random things,” Dorsey said.

So, according to Dorsey, Twitter is not going to ban Trump anytime soon. He said that the company considers Trump’s tweets newsworthy and he should keep using the service to talk to the world and to his voters.

Meanwhile, shares of Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) closed up 1.20% on Friday. The stock is up over 17% so far this year.
