TNT Teams Up With Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) For Live Streaming Of Its News Show ‘Claws’

TNT’s new drama, “Claws” will stream on Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) on June 11. For the last one, the social media has been focusing on news and sports but it is clear that it is now taking on scripted content. TNT’s parent company Turner has previously collaborated with Twitter to stream TBS’ “Full Frontal with Samantha Bee’s Not the White House Correspondents’ Dinner”.

However, it is going to be the first time that a cable drama will be streaming on Twitter according to TNT parent Turner. Actress Niecy Nash will be the lead cast alongside the likes of Carrie Preston and Jenn Lyon.

This is second agreement between the social media platform and Turner

Twitter and Turner have previously worked together; hence this is not going to be a new deal. After the premiere, TNT says that it will bring on board other series stars the likes of Judy Reyes and Karrueche Tran. The company will then push the episode out to its other platforms including tntdrama.com.

In his statement, Twitter COO, Anthony Noto said, “We are excited to collaborate again with Turner to help them reach new audiences on Twitter. Fans will be able to watch the video of the highly anticipated premiere of Claws and tweet along with viewers and the cast all on the same platform.”

Twitter has obtained new streaming video partnerships

For a very long time, the social media has been struggling to grow its base as quickly and as consistently as possible. This is the sole reason that the company is stepping up its efforts to give its services a distinction for live-streaming video. After losing its streaming rights to the NFL’s Thursday night games, Twitter garnered several partnerships last month with major media companies.

Bloomberg Media, BuzzFeed, Viacom, Inc.(NASDAQ:VIAB) and Vox Media are just but a few of the many companies that Twitter will be working with. The company has so far streamed more than 800 hours of live content and it hopes to do much more. In the meantime, Twitter’s stock closed at $17.59 witnessing an increase of $0.15 or 0.86%.
