Tesla Motors Inc. (NASDAQ:TSLA) Launches Model S For Kids In Alliance With Radio Flyer

Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) has recently partnered with Radio Flyer- the organization known for red colored metal wagons to build small vehicles. The two have built a scaled down model of the Model S that utilizes the same battery technology to reach a top acceleration of six miles per hour. The miniature car can only hold drivers with a maximum weight of 81 pounds.

Almost every feature of Radio Flyers’s Tesla Model S is similar to the original that includes the optional indoor car cover at $50, the battery charging port, the color options, and the operating headlights. The vehicle is dubbed as the $500 “Model S for Kids”. It is designed for kids aged from 3 to 8. The vehicle charges in only three hours and uses swappable batteries.

The mini car has a front trunk, a sound system, and working headlights. The cars can be painted in genuine Tesla Model S colors such as Red Multi-Coat, Midnight Silver Metallic, and Deep Blue Metallic. The vehicle can now be pre-ordered and will ship from May onwards. The standard version has a 140 Wh battery. Users can pay extra $50 for a 190 Wh battery offering 50% more running time. Another offer to make it a complete package is a vanity license plate.

It’s an ideal time to be a kid for those who fancy small, electric vehicles. The previous week Actev company introduced the Arrow Kart, a highly smart go-kart which has a top speed of 12 miles per hour.

Even with all these options, The Model S for Kids is less exciting when benchmarked against the Arrow, which is more intelligent, more stylish and incorporates solid safety features such as geofencing as well as collision avoidance.

Little kids aspiring to have a Tesla of their own will not have to wait till they are adults now. If one purchases all options, the miniature car will cost $804. The vehicle has two different top speeds based on parental settings: 6 or 3 miles per hour. Finally, if one prefers to purchase a Model S toy that looks good but is not functional, then one can take the die cast path.
