T-Mobile US Inc (NASDAQ:TMUS) To Offer Unlimited LTE Data To Paralympic Coverage

T-Mobile US Inc (NASDAQ:TMUS) has announced the extension of its unlimited data offer to its subscribers in Brazil to cover the Paralympic games until the end of the Olympics 2016 on September 18.

The company announced that users who have access to the offer will get free unlimited LTE data. They will also get to make free calls to any number in the United States. However, the offer will not be free for calls to other countries meaning rates for international calls will still apply. T-Mobile will offer an interesting package to Paralympic athletes. They will get free services from the firm as well as a new Samsung Gear 360 camera and a Samsung Galaxy S7 handset. The company has however warned athletes that qualify for the offer to sign up quickly because the free products are in limited supply.

T-Mobile CEO John Legere stated that his firm is pleased to offer support to American athletes in Brazil because the offer will allow them to easily keep in touch with their families. Legere added that the athletes have been training hard and it is only fair that they are able to communicate and share their Olympic moments and not worry about huge telephone bills when they return home. In all fairness though, fairness is probably not what is motivating T-Mobile to make this deal, as it probably has more to do with marketing.

The extended offer is part of the earlier offering through which the company is allowing its users to roam in Brazil free of charge and use LTE data until the end of the Olympics. The firm, however, made it clear that it reserves the right to restrict or terminate the free service in cases where the user misuses the service or is roaming too much. Users have therefore been advised to use the offer in moderation. T-Mobile will also extend the offer to the family members of the paralympic athletes. The company will be expanding the offer until September 17. The Paralympic events will commence on September 7 and conclude on September 17. The free roaming offer was launched a few weeks ago.
