Sony Corp (NYSE:SNE) To Feature Android Auto and CarPlay In Its Aftermarket Car Display

Sony Corp (NYSE:SNE) is working on introducing a new line of aftermarket display that will support Android Auto and CarPlay.

The new unit known as the XAV-AX100 has a 6.4-inch display that includes features such as an input for a reverse camera and Bluetooth among a few extra features. However, it will not have an auxiliary port. Sony will also throw in an enhanced audio experience into the new infotainment system as well as a new boot design. The display of the XAV-AX100 offers a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels.

Some of the extras on the infotainment system include a rotating knob for adjusting volume, a home screen button and buttons for changing between songs. Sony has simplified the interface so that Android Auto and Car Play can take over in the shortest time possible. The company is also throwing in a USB port which will come in handy for flash drives, charging and other features. The company has a unique audio feature known as Extra Bass. The feature takes advantage of the speakers by finely tuning the sound system. The system is thus expected to be popular with car enthusiasts who love customizing their cars including their entertainment to their liking.

Sony is expected to sell The XAV-AX100 starting from $499. This means it will be the most affordable infotainment system in the market. Pricing will, therefore, be one of the strong points of the device. The fact that the company also decided to include both CarPlay and Android Auto should make it more appealing in the market.

Some manufacturers only accommodate one thus the customer has to choose one of the two services. The offer by Sony is expected to challenge competitors and encourage the inclusion of more offerings from competitors. Sony announced that the XAV-AX100 will hit the US marker towards the end of November. Further details are yet to be released.
