Sikur has launched a new variant of the Sony Xperia smartphone with enhanced features that will enable crypto holders bank substantial cryptocurrency in their wallets. The Crypto-centric smartphone is meant to serve as a more secure vault for crypto storage since the average smartphone lacks adequate security features.

The smartphone, which was launched on Wednesday features a crypto-oriented system, the SikurOS software, Sikur’s own secure appstore, a feature for remote wiping of the phone’s data, a cryptocurrency wallet and a plethora of security-oriented features

Hardware features

The crypto smartphone comes in two flavors both with different hardware features and software capabilities.

One flavor is a 5.2″ smartphone based on Sony’s XZ1 smartphone. It has a storage capacity of 64GB, Random Access Memory of 4GB, a 2,700mAh battery a Snapdragon 835 chip, a 19 megapixels back camera and a 13-megapixel selfie camera.

The second flavor is based on Sony’s XA2 mid-range smartphones and has a storage capacity of 32GB, Random Access Memory of 3GB, a 23 megapixel back camera paired with an 8 megapixels selfie camera, 3,300mAh battery and a 630 snapdragon chip.

The Sikur Phone

Sikur launched the Sikur Smartphone in February 2018. The company is focused on only creating the software which will be deployed to hardware manufacturers for installation to smartphones.

Sikur built the new smartphone during the Sony Open Devices Unit Program and the engineers ported it on top of the Sony architecture. The company’s Chief Operations Officer Mr. Alexandre Vasconcelos, announced that Sikur was approaching other manufacturers to port the software to their devices.

Sikur believes that although it’s a young company, it entrusts entities such as businesspeople and governments to the phone’s security features. The underlying fact is that controlling both its software and the hardware is of great benefit to the security features. In a case where the smartphone is majorly purposed for cryptocurrency storage or any highly profiled sensitive data, its security features are of increased importance.

Sikur is selling the new Sicur Smartphone at $650 for the XA2 and $850 for the XZ1.
