(c)On July28, 2017, the Board of Directors of MFA Financial,Inc. (the “Company”) announced the appointment, effective immediately, of Craig L. Knutson, age 57, as Co-Chief Executive Officer of the Company in order to allow William S. Gorin, the Company’s Chief Executive Officer, to focus on his ongoing treatment for cancer. Mr.Knutson has been MFA’s president and chief operating officer since January2014 and prior thereto was an executive vice president of the Company from 2008 to 2013.
