Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is expected to release highly rumored iPhone 8 later this year. Analysts on Wall Street, as well as tech experts, believe that the Cupertino-based tech giant will unveil an innovative and hit mobile device this year to remain the top player in the premium smartphone market.

The 10th-anniversary iPhone is rumored to feature wireless charging, OLED display, and front-facing 3D camera.

Here is everything we so far know about the iPhone 8.

Augmented Reality

The iPhone 8 is expected to support augmented reality. Gene Munster, managing director of Loup Ventures, believes that the premium iPhone will come with augmented reality software bundle.

According to Munster, Apple is betting big on augmented reality apps and the tech giant is setting up a team to build its product strategy, Fortune reported.

“Apple’s focus in the near-term is on nailing augmented reality on the iPhone over the next five years,” Munster said during an interview about Apple’s augmented reality, virtual reality and other future strategies.

OLED Display

One of the most appealing features of the iPhone 8 is likely to be a curved OLED display. Apple is expected to use glass on the back of the phone.

OLED offers better display than traditional LCD as well as it consumes less power compared to LCDs. OLEDs are much better than LCDs in contrast ratio, colors, and viewing angles and do not require the backlighting.

Wireless Charging

A long-range wireless charging is said to be featured in the 10th-anniversary special iPhone model.

According to rumors, Apple is working on a charging technology to allow the phone to recharge itself from a long distance.

Reports suggest that the tech giant hired a team of wireless charging engineers to build the wireless charging technology for the iPhone 8.

KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes that wireless charging would be a main selling point for the iPhone 8.

Camera

Apple is apparently putting a lot of focus on the iPhone’s camera technology. We expect a robust camera in the iPhone 8.

Kuo, the famous Apple analyst on the planet Earth, believes that the iPhone 8 will get a dual-lens camera that was originally launched in the iPhone 7 Plus. The analyst also wrote in one of his recent research notes that the iPhone 8 would come with optical image stabilization for both the wide-angle and telephoto lenses.

As we reported earlier, Korea Economic Daily claims that the iPhone 8 will feature a 3D camera. The newspaper said in a report that the iPhone maker contacted LG to purchase 3D cameras for the 10th anniversary iPhone.

iPhone 8 Price and Release Date

The iPhone 8 is going to an expensive phone due to an OLED screen and a long distance wireless charging capability.

Reports from multiple sources including JP Morgen suggest that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) would offer the iPhone 8 at more than $1,000.

As far as the launch date is concerned, we expect that the iPhone 8 would arrive in September alongside the iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus.
