Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Co (NASDAQ:HMHC) Announces 20 Winners Of Spark a Story Writing Contest

Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Co (NASDAQ:HMHC) has unveiled the 20 winners of the Spark a Story writing contest, a competition designed to encourage high school writing as well as finding the best writers.

Houghton Mifflin announced the names of the 20 individuals that won the writing contest. The contest was launched last year and it called upon students throughout the country to write and submit their stories. The 20 lucky winners of the Spark a Story contest were carefully selected by editors from HMH. Their stories were selected based on various factors including originality, creativity and quality of writing.

“The Spark a Story writing competition gave us an exciting opportunity to bring together HMH’s expertise in both the literary and education spaces to encourage and celebrate the next generation of American writers and storytellers,” stated Bruce Nichols, the senior vice president and publisher at HMH Trade Publishing.

The 20 winning stories to be published in a book

The 20 winning stories selected by the editors will be compiled and published into a book titled Spark a Story: Twenty Short Stories by American Teens. This of course means a lot of recognition for the individual writers. Their writing skills will also be nurtured so that they can develop their writing skills further. Bruce also pointed out that the resulting publication will be an inspiring example of what the creative young minds of this generation have to offer. He also stated that the young writers might end up becoming best writers in the future, thus making the competition a good one.

HMH posted the names of the 20 best writers that won the competition including their respective stories. Their work will be available on the company’s website.

HMH stock closed the latest trading session on Tuesday at $13.50 after gaining by 4.25 percent from the previous session.
