GoPro Inc (NASDAQ:GPRO) has been struggling in the last year, having to lay off close to 15% of its workforce. However, the company will not just sit back and watch things unravel. It has revealed a possible integration of its photo editing app into Huawei’s P10 and P10 plus Smartphones.

The app, which is known as Quik is the newest strategy the company will apply in pushing and boosting its brand presence and sales in China. At the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, GoPro said that the app will be pre-installed on these devices. The editing app may not be in high demand at the moment but the company says it is not relenting.

Huawei’s dual-camera equipped P10 and P10 Plus all about the camera

GoPro has a unique goal with its app. It will be seeking to encourage Huawei users to buy at least one of the company’s cameras. The videos captured by them can be edited automatically on the app. Huawei’s dual-camera has a photo gallery, which will sport a new “Highlight” feature that will be compiling photos and videos into a collection.

The feature will also help in the customization of video to make it possible to share them on social media.

Working with Huawei introduces GoPro to international markets

Huawei may not have a tangible presence in the US. However, its products are available in 170 countries.  This is in addition to the third ranking of its Smartphones in the global mobile phone shipments. GoPro is now banking on this to embrace international growth for its products.

However, there is nothing much to reap from the Chinese market according to Brad Erickson, an analyst at Pacific Crest Securities LLC.  He says, “I think the market for a $300 to $400 action camera outside the U.S., where the culture can bear that cost, is very low — especially where you have cheaper cameras with the same video processors.”

In the meantime, GoPro’s stock was trading at $9.66 witnessing an increase of $0.23 or 2.44%.
