Other Events.

On December 13, 2016, Eastern Virginia Bankshares, Inc. (EVBS)
and Southern National Bancorp of Virginia, Inc. (SONA) issued a
joint press release announcing the execution of an Agreement and
Plan of Merger, dated as of December 13, 2016, to which SONA and
EVBS will merge, subject to the terms and conditions set forth
therein. A copy of the joint press release is attached hereto as
Exhibit 99.1 and incorporated by reference herein.

EVBS and SONA will host a conference call regarding the merger at
10:00 a.m. EDT on December 14, 2016. Instructions for
participating in the conference call are included in the attached
joint press release. A copy of the investor presentation that
EVBS and SONA will use during this call to provide supplemental
information about the proposed transaction is attached hereto as
Exhibit 99.2 and incorporated by reference herein. This investor
