Item 5.02 Departure of Directors or Certain Officers; Election of
Directors; Appointment of Certain Officers; Compensatory
Arrangements of Certain Officers.

On February 22, 2017, Thomas A. McCarthy, Executive Vice
President and Chief Financial Officer of Cigna Corporation (the
“Company”), notified the Company of his intention to retire
from his position in the early summer of 2017. The terms of any
retirement arrangement between the Company and Mr. McCarthy will
be disclosed on a Form 8-K as required.
On February 23, 2017, the Company appointed Matthew G. Manders,
who was most recently the Company’s President of U.S. Markets,
to the new role of President, Government Individual Programs and
Group Insurance.
