A survey by the Official Monetary and Financial Institutions Forum (OMFIF) and IBM reveals that central banks are embracing the concept of digital currencies. The survey of 21 central banks, which ran from July-September 2018, finds that 54% of respondents believe CBDCs can be used to improve the speed, efficiency and resilience of cross-border payments. A CBDC is a digital form of fiat money, which is a currency established as money by government regulation.

Chicago-based ad agency FRC has selected Ternio as its preferred blockchain partner to facilitate transparency of its programmatic ad campaigns. Ternio is working to bring transparency to programmatic digital advertising with its high transacting blockchain called Lexicon.

Tapatalk, a mobile app that allows users to access all online forums in one place, has formed its blockchain advisory board. The board will oversee the company’s efforts to support blockchain integration for the 200,000 forums relying on Tapatalk to solve anonymity problems for seamless end-to-end forum management. Tapatalk is exploring how to use blockchain to optimize forum value by increasing trust in an anonymous network.

Blockchain-based e-commerce verification platform simplyBrand has entered into a strategic partnership with cryptocurrency service platform COBINHOOD to launch its initial coin offering (ICO). simplyBrand intends to use the tokens to reward crowdsourcing participants who provide human intelligence to the platform’s anti-counterfeiting activities.

RigoBlock, the decentralized asset management protocol, plans to launch the public token sale of the GRG token. The blockchain based asset management protocol has opened its whitelist; a way for users to show their interest in contributing to the project and to expedite the token sale process. The token sale will be carried out by Switzerland-based parent company Rigo Investment Limited.

Air Canada has inked a letter of intent to participate in a blockchain-based, decentralized open-source travel distribution platform being developed by the Swiss start-up Winding Tree. The complexity of the current travel distribution landscape can deter new entrants and innovation in the distribution and sale of air travel products. Winding Tree is working to address this complexity by developing a decentralized, open-source platform for travel distribution to provide greater access to inventory directly from suppliers, the Canada’s largest domestic and international airline said in a statement.

US stock exchange NASDAQ, the second-largest stock exchange in the world by market capitalization, is planning to build a new blockchain-powered platform to share time-sensitive information with the media industry. The patent suggests that the stock exchange is interested in using blockchain technology to securely release time-sensitive information to the right people.

Alibaba Cloud, the cloud computing arm of Alibaba Group, announced that is expanding its blockchain-as-a-service (BaaS) offering to major global markets including South East Asia, the U.S and Europe. Alibaba Cloud’s BaaS provides an enterprise-level platform service based on blockchain technologies and helps customers build a secure and stable environment for blockchain implementations.
