Ascena Retail Group Inc (NASDAQ:ASNA)’s Ascena Foundation Is Now Accepting Nominations For The 2016 Roslyn S. Jaffe Awards

Ascena Retail Group Inc (NASDAQ:ASNA) Ascena Foundation has started to accept nominations for the 2016 Roslyn S. Jaffe Awards.

The Awards was launched in 2014, named after Roslyn S. Jaffe, co-founder of the first dressbarn store in 1962 and current Director Emeritus of Ascena Retail Group, Inc. It is a not-for-profit program that gives out rewards to everyday people across the United States.

Recognition is given to creators and founders of organizations who have caused great social impact on the improvement of women and children’s lives specifically in the areas of health, education, social reform and esteem.

Now in its third year, the Awards’ Selection Committee is comprised of Roslyn Jaffe, Elise Jaffe and experts in women’s causes, public affairs, health and education. Financial grants are given to the recipients of the awards in order to increase exposure, credibility, funding opportunities and potential expanded programming, collaborations and partnerships with similar organizations.

Jessica Sager, co-founder and executive director at All Our Kin, said that the grant they received from Jaffe Awards was used to increase their numbers of caregivers to 450 by 2016 in order to be able to serve 2,600 children. They were also able to catch national attention and attention of leaders in the field. Other organizations have also been trying to imitate All Our Kin’s model to better support family care providers in their communities.

This year, the Grand Prize Winner will receive $100,000 and two runner-up awardees will both receive $25,000 as well. Nominations can be submitted through the Ascena foundation’s website. The deadline for nominations is on June 15. The announcement of winners will be at the end of September and will be recognized in October, during the Third Annual Roslyn S. Jaffe Awards Luncheon. The event will be hosted by Soledad O’Brien, renowned journalist and philanthropist.

Last March 21, 2016, Ascena announced Stacy Turnof as the new Vice President of Investor relations. With more than two decades of experience in finance and investment, she will be working closely with executive leadership in handling investor communications. She served as Vice President and Senior Buy-Side Research Analyst in BlackRock, Inc (NYSE:BLK) for ten years before joining Ascena Retail Group.
