Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has closed ticket lottery registrations for 2017 Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), according to a report from Apple Insider.
The Cupertino-based tech giant has started sending emails to people who will attend the conference, according to the report.
For WWDC, Apple selects participants through a lottery system. This year, some 5,000 developers and 1,000 Apple engineers are expected to attend the event. The ticket lottery winners will pay $1,599 to attend the event.
Every year, Apple holds WWDC in California. The conference gives software developers an opportunity to learn about the company’s new software and technologies. The company held WWDC for the first time in 1983 in Monterey, California.
At WWDC, developers can participate in hands-on labs with more than 1,000 Apple engineers, and attend in-depth sessions. The event includes a first-day keynote where Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) introduces upcoming software and new hardware products.
WWDC 2017
This year, Apple could reveal the latest versions of iOS and macOS, watchOS and tvOS at WWDC.
The tech giant is also expected to announce some new hardware at the WWDC. It may use the event to update its Apple TV, Mac Pro and MacBook Air.
WWDC 2017 will be held from June 5 to June 9 at the McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, California.
According to Apple Insider, the iPhone maker is working with San Jose and local businesses for “very special experiences” around the city.
Meanwhile, shares of Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) closed down 0.19% on Friday. The stock is up over 24% year-to-date.
