Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) Could Launch Apple Pay in Italy on Wednesday

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is expected to launch its mobile payment and digital wallet service in Italy as soon as tomorrow, according to a report from Italian tech blog MacPost.it via Mac Rumors.

Apple Pay lets users shop and pay bills using the iPhone, Apple Watch-compatible devices, iPad, and Mac. The service is currently available in only 15 countries but Apple has been working aggressively to bring the service to more countries and global markets.

In addition to Italy, Apple is also rumored to launch Apple Pay in Germany sometime this year.

According to the Italian tech blog, three different sources from the retail and banking sector confirmed that Apple Pay is launch on Wednesday throughout the country.

However, the sources were able to provide information about the exact time of the launch. But the general expectation is that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) will announce the service in the morning.

Apple Pay has been facing a strong competition from Samsung Pay, Android Pay, and Ali Pay.

In March, Ulster Bank and KBC Bank Ireland became the first banks in Ireland to launch Apple Pay. The iPhone maker also launched the mobile payment and digital wallet service was also launched in Taiwan at the end of March.

Meanwhile, shares of Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) were trading down 0.24% on Tuesday. The stock’s performance is strong so far this year, gaining over 34% year-to-date.
