Samsung may not be the only company facing fire problems with its flagship product after all.  Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL), the world most valuable company, is the latest one to be drawn into the fire controversy, having emerged that an iPhone 7 exploded in China’s Yunnan province.  An Australian woman has also shared an image of how her arm was burnt after sleeping on her charging iPhone.

iPhone 7 Fires

“I went to get dressed and realized my arm was very red, so I then went to the GP and they advised me I needed to go straight to the hospital. The hospital did a number of tests and told me the mark was a burn from a foreign object and told me to check around my bed to see what could be the cause of the injury,” said the woman.

Apple took the iPhone in question, for further investigation.  However the company is yet to speculate as to what might have caused it to explode and cause the severe burns. The incidents in China, on the other hand, occurred when the phone in question hit the ground accidentally. Reports in China claim that the iPhone started vibrating on hitting the ground consequently emitting smoke.

Recall Possibility

This is not the first time that reports of iPhone 7 catching fire have sent shockwaves online. A few weeks back a user posted on Reddit how an iPhone ordered by a co-worker caught fire even before it reached the final user.  While the incidences are not in any way related to what Samsung had to contend with, it just shows that Apple is not immune to such cases.

Samsung has already carried out a massive recall as it became clear the problem with the Galaxy 7 was much bigger.  While a number of Galaxy 7 phones were reported to have exploded because of a faulty battery, that has not been the case with the iPhone 7. It is thus unlikely that Apple will be swayed to carry out a recall for its new flagship phone unless there are more incidents.

Apple stock was up by $1.40 in Tuesday trading session closing the day at highs of $107.11 a share.
