Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) Looks to Hire Samsung Executive

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is looking to poach Rajiv Mishra from Samsung so that he can lead the company’s media and public affairs department in India.

Mr. Mishra is the current vice president of the corporate social responsibility and media department at Samsung Electronics India. Apple believes that he is ideal for the task because he has 22 years of experience in the industry. Mishra’s input will, therefore, be vital for Apple in its efforts to secure a stronger position in the Indian market and distributing information to stakeholders. Mishra joined Samsung about two years ago, and his position involves handling the whole media mandate throughout India.

Aligning with the CEO visit

The revelation of Apple’s intention to hire the Samsung executive comes in the wake of Tim Cook’s presence in India. The CEO landed in the country earlier this week with a mission to enhance his company’s efforts in the country. Cook’s first agenda was to unveil a software development lab that the company will launch in Bangalore to assist iOS developers. The company also plans to launch its first retail stores in India though it is not yet clear whether it is of the reasons why Mr. Cook is in the country.

Apart from his position at Samsung, Mishra also founded the country’s Electronic Media Rating Council. His efforts in TV rating methods in Europe have also earned him international recognition.

During the company’s latest earnings call, Cook stated that he was encouraged by the results that his company has been experiencing in India, and he believes it can tap into a lot more potential. He believes that the current market situation in India is a lot like China a few years ago. The CEO’s visit to the country highlights the company’s will to overcome the challenges that it is facing there.
