Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) Expected To Reveal Siri Improvements

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is expected to reveal some major changes to Siri during the company’s upcoming worldwide developer conference.

The software and tech company might be planning to support third-party apps in its Mac devices, iPhones and iPads and the changes will include the integration of Apple’s digital assistant, Siri. Researchers who pay specific attention to Apple claim that the company plans to announce these Siri enhancements during the Apple WWDC, which will commence on Monday in San Francisco. Apple, in its usual fashion, has remained silent on the matter and has not responded to requests for comments.

Rumors suggest that the Siri updates will make it possible for Siri to pick up calls on behalf of the handset owner and explain to the caller why the user is not available to pick the call. It will also have the ability to transcribe voicemails on behalf of the device owner. There is also a chance that the Siri update means that the digital assistant will no longer be limited to iOS handsets only. Unnamed sources have revealed that the company could finally integrate the digital assistant with OS X 10.12 which is the next version of the Mac OS.

If the rumors are legitimate, then Siri will be available on the notification center in Mac computers. Extended rumors suggest that Siri for Macs will feature its own settings interface for user preferences including an option for a keyboard shortcut to activate it.

Improvements on the digital assistant will most likely enhance its utility, and it should also be smarter especially if the company lets developers have access. Improvements on the digital assistant will most likely align it to become more applicable in the Internet of Things (IoT) industry meaning users can run more utilities through audio commands to Siri. The upgrade will also allow Siri to compete more effectively with Alexa from Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN).
