Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) Considering Purchasing Medical-Clinic Start-Up In Bid To Expand Into Healthcare

The stock of Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) closed at $156.25 gaining 0.17% in Friday’s trading session. Apple is considering expanding into health care clinics and talks are underway about the purchase of a start-up called Crossover Health.

The start-up has been collaborating with big employers towards the establishment and the running of a series of the on-site medical clinics. Crossover Health is one of the few companies specializing in working with self-insured employers with the aim of offering medical and wellness services around campus.

Facebook, Inc (NASDAQ:FB) and Apple are some of its trusted clients. Crossover has also made tremendous steps forward when it comes to setting up clinics in the Bay Area and in New York as well. It has been touting its digital features like same-day appointments via a mobile app.

The Apple-Crossover talks have been ongoing for months but unfortunately they haven’t yet materialized into a deal. Apple has also been holding discussions with a nationwide primary care group One Medical and people following closely on the matter are looking forward to see what comes out from this particular encounter.

Crossover Health has in numerous instances been sought to respond to a request for a comment. Apple hasn’t uttered a word to this particular moment. Talks about making expansions into the primary care clinics have been going on for over a year inside Apple’s team.

There is a lot of uncertainty surrounding the next move by Apple. The company has the option of either partnering with its existing partners or it could resolve to build out its own network of the primary care clinics in the similar fashion the top retails stores have been doing over the years.

One cannot also rule out the point that Apple might just resolve to not to make this move. Tim Cook, the company CEO opined, “”There’s a lot of stuff I can’t tell you about that we’re working on, some of which it’s clear there’s a commercial business there.”
