Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) to Build 1st Fulfillment Center in Utah

Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) announced that it is building first Utah fulfillment center in Salt Lake City.

The new facility will create 1,500 full-time jobs, Amazon said in a statement.

The 855,000-plus square-foot fulfillment center will be used to pick, pack, and ship smaller customer items, such as books, electronics, and toys, according to the e-commerce giant.

“We are excited to continue growing our team with the first fulfillment center in Utah,” Akash Chauhan, who leads Amazon’s operations in North American, said in an emailed statement.

“In Utah, there are already more than 30,000 authors, sellers, and developers growing their businesses and reaching new customers on Amazon products and services. This new facility will enable us to better serve customers and improve Prime membership benefits,” Chauhan added.

Fulfillment by Amazon

Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) provides storage, packaging, and shipping service to sellers on Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN). The service lets sellers store products in the e-commerce giant’s fulfillment centers and the company picks, packs, ships, and provides customer service for these products. The online retailing giant has built a large fulfillment network in the world.

Meanwhile, shares of Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) were trading 1.10% on Thursday morning. The stock is up more than 28% so far this year. During the last 12 months, the online retailer’s share price has surged more than 30%.
