Amazon.com, Inc (NASDAQ:AMZN), VMware, Inc (NYSE:VMW) To Effect Joint Cloud Promise

VMware, Inc (NYSE:VMW), a cloud computing company, has made an announcement informing interested parties that they could proceed to make their purchases of the VMware Cloud for Amazon Web Services, since it was made available to cloud data centers in Oregon.

VMware and Amazon.com, Inc (NASDAQ:AMZN) are hoping that their partnership will bring about a number of positive changes in terms of delivering high quality products and services to customers. The vice president of worldwide alliances for AWS, Terry Wise has revealed that they will be rolling out the product across a large number of AWS cloud computing facilities globally in the coming year as well as in the next.

Las Vegas is the place that VMware’s annual VMworld technology conference will be held and that is also where the provider will be announcing the AppDefense. That is the latest cyber-security product and will be entrusted with the fortification of the provider’s core virtual machines against security threats.

Pat Gelsinger, CEO for VMware made the announcement. The other top official expected to attend is Andy Jassy, the AWS CEO. The two executives are believed to have set up plans for the product last year.

Lohmeyer opined, “Even though many VMware shops using vSphere also use the newer NSX and VSAN stuff, not all of them do. When they move to VMware Cloud for AWS, they will be getting VSAN storage and NSX networking capabilities as well.”He added that VMware remained committed to handling the licensing of the product appropriately.

The vice president of products for VMware’s cloud business unit Mark Lohmeyer pointed to a nuance in relation to the matter. The various VMware customers won’t be able to automatically transfer the existing vSphere licenses to Amazon infrastructure. They will however obtain a discount on the new cloud licenses.
