Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) is working on a new project that may come in handy for job seekers if successful. They will no longer have to keep scrolling various job listing sites, thanks to the tech giant’s new feature. The “Google for Jobs” initiative should help them find the right job according to the company’s CEO Sundar Pichai.
Speaking at the company’s Google I/O developer conference Pichai outlined that the feature will also help employers identify the right talent. Records have it that close to 46% of them are struggling to fill up vacant job spots because they can’t get the matching candidates.
But is Google’s technology in competition with the current job boards?
The initial outlook of Google’s feature outlines a possible competition with the existing job boards. However, Pichai says that this is not the case because the company has incorporated job boards in the creation of the service. Some of its partners on board include Monster, CareerBuilder, Glassdoor, and ZipRecruiter. Nonetheless, some may still be hurt.
Google’s search and machine learning technology will be ideal in offering a helping hand to the job market. At the conference, Pichai quoted, “We want to better connect employers and job seekers. It is part of our commitment to using our products to help people find work. It’s a complex problem.”
Google’s efforts to offer a more personalized search
With millions of job listings flooding the job market today, it is very likely that a job seeker may not access all of them. This is the more reason that the tech giant is seeking to offer a more personalized search, which will have filters to narrow down the gigs.
Apparently, the tool has already been used by some large corporations the likes of Johnson & Johnson in filling up positions. Google is now looking forward to having the new feature roll out in the US market.
Meanwhile, Alphabet’s stock closed at $942.17 a decline of $22.44 or 2.33%.
