The world is becoming more complex and multiple tech firms including Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) are seeking to experiment in solving bigger problems. The massive growth of technology is notably putting every tech firm on its toes and technologists have not been left behind either.  They are also seeking to establish platforms that can collaborate with each other in order, for example in driving and fraud detection at once. This is one of the many collaborations that the Alphabet DeepMind team is looking into in its illustration of how learning machines can work together

Apparently, results from the team’s first experiment using two simple games are already being analyzed. The questions are focusing on the looming A.I.-driven future.

Agents with the capacity to implement complex strategies are less cooperative

Co-existence is not for all systems because those with more know-how tend to behave less cooperatively. That means smart robots continue to harm each other for no apparent reason as they all seek to outdo humans. The researchers specifically associate their hyper-rational A.I. agents with the model of “homo economicus”. This is the concept of the purely gains-maximizing human of 20th and 21st century economics. However, how consistent are human beings in the real world?

The future of robots

There is an increasing interest in robots from academics, governments, and industries worldwide. Their presence opens a new chapter of exciting developments in the coming years. Robotics is a technology that is quickly gaining global attention perhaps because of its ability to collaborate with other machines. However, they are not fated to exist as pure maximizing agents regardless of the fact that A.I.s are quickly evolving. They could be designed with behavioral guiding principles.

DeepMind’s competitive algorithms may not be without challenges that will require some form of understanding by the programmers. Meanwhile, Alphabet’s stock was trading at $834.85 witnessing an increase of $4.79 or 0.58%.
