Allergan plc Ordinary Shares (NYSE:AGN) has announced launching the Know Your Birth ControlSM campaign. The campaign was launched in partnership with leading actress Vanessa Bayer and OB/GYN Jessica Shepherd, M.D., M.B.A. Allergan specializes in women’s healthcare and production of ethinyl estradiol and Lo Loestrin Fe (norethindrone acetate) and ethinyl estradiol tablets. The campaign, which is driven digitally is geared at showcasing the misconceptions that surround oral contraceptives while at the same time offering accurate information that is useful to women.
While commenting on the campaign, Allergan Vice President in charge of Women’s Healthcare Jim Maffezzoli said the company is committed to improving women health and they will do so by making available all the information. Additionally the company is coming up with an approachable way to correct all the misinformation that is in the air concerning contraceptives.
The campaign will entail a series of video content. The video will feature Vanessa Bayer and Dr. Jessica Shepherd. The first video series features Ms. Bayer on the streets of New York City as she engages women about birth control and holding candid talk to iron out the misconceptions. The second video series will feature Dr. Shepherd as he responds to commonly asked questions concerning birth control as well as preparing women to have similar discussions with their doctors.
This campaign was designed with two goals: To be educational and entertaining at the same time. The company will share the content of the campaign on popular digital platform as well as social media. The campaign will offer correct and verified information to women.
In a statement, Dr. Shepherd said, being a gynecologist, he is obliged to ensuring that patients have the right information regarding birth control in order for them to make the right and informed decisions. He added that he is pleased to be part of the campaign saying that this will be a nice opportunity for him to offer women with the education they want. He added that he is committed to empowerment of women through health and through productive conversations.
