Aerojet did not elaborate why Cambria is leaving the company, but provided a long profile of the incoming general counsel Kampani. The general counsel changes were disclosed in a Form 8-K filing by Aerojet.

Who is Kampani?

Aerojet said in a press release that Kampani is an expert in corporate legal matters with extensive practical experience. Kampani is a graduate of the University of Michigan and Case Western Reserve University School of Law. He is also a member of the New York State bar. He began his legal practice at a New York law firm currently known as Olshan Frome Wolosky, LLP. From there he went to work with various law firms.

Aerojet is looking to him to add a wealth of experience and expertise to its business, especially in areas such as defense and aerospace.

In the corporate world, Kampani has worked for a number of companies including Anteon International Corporation, which was later acquired by General Dynamics. Kampani transitioned to General Dynamics where he played a leading role as an M&A lawyer. At General Dynamics, Kampani oversaw the completion of more than 30 acquisitions and divestment of non-core assets. He was the VP, general counsel and corporate sectary of General Dynamics Land Systems until recently. Kampani is joining Aerojet in the same capacity.

Class-action suit

But the executive shakeup at Aerojet Rocketdyne Holdings Inc (NYSE:GY) is happening at a time when the company is also facing claims that it misled investors in certain financial reports. Aerojet recently said that certain of its financial statements are no longer reliable. Faruqi & Faruqi, LLP is trying to bring a class action lawsuit against Aerojet over claims that it misled investors by not properly disclosing some material facts.
