Actua Corporation (NASDAQ:ACTA) To Safety Leaders: Submit EPA TRI Reports Immediately

Cloud environment health, safety and sustainability software industry leader VelocityEHS, a subsidiary of Actua Corporation (NASDAQ:ACTA), reminded facility and safety leaders that the Toxic Release Inventory (TRI) reports to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) are to be submitted on July 1.

Why Annual EPA TRI is Mandated

The TRI is an annual requirement for facilities operating with 10 or more workers. It is specifically designed for facilities manufacturing, using, and processing regulated toxic chemicals more than the specified amount mandated by the EPA under the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA) of 1986.

With the TRI reports, the EPA is enabled to collect a specific quantity of toxic chemical and necessary location information. The agency can then release the data for public access, making them available to everyone— particularly the emergency response agencies.

Glenn Trout, VelocityEHS President and CEO, believes that strict compliance to an efficient chemical management program is essential with an accurate TRI report. With this mandate, safety regulators in hazardous facilities can ensure workplace safety and make informed choices when it comes to regulated chemicals.

MDSonline, VelocityEHS’ online platform, is designed to identify and flag sub-components and products that are regulated on various levels in accordance to state, federal, and international laws.

GHS Submission

Earlier this month, VelocityEHS has also reminded safety managers, whose facilities operate under the revised Hazard Communication Standard (HazCom), that the compliance deadline for the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) is on June 1.

Under the new GHS, the companies are compelled to revise their HazCom plans and update their systems in accordance to the amendments. Moreover, safety regulators in the facilities are also required to use safety data sheets.

Another significant change is the introduction of the eBinder mobile app, which is compatible for both iOS and Android devices. With it, employees can access all necessary safety information that is available both online and offline. This further enhances the safety measures within the workplace and among all workers.
