Activision Blizzard, Inc. (NASDAQ:ATVI) To Reveal New Competitive Mode And Two New Characters For Overwatch

Activision Blizzard, Inc. (NASDAQ:ATVI) is pulling all stops with its popular game Overwatch as it plans to bring two new playable characters on board and plans are underway to reveal a new competitive mode.

A report from the University Herald revealed that Overwatch is expected to receive the upgrades in the next few months in line with the studio’s announcement to introduce new content. The new changes include adding two more playable characters into the game and a restructured competitive mode. Other than that, the company plans to maintain a tight seal on the details. There were rumors that the studio has been planning to feature some new heroes. However, Activision has not confirmed some of these details to avoid disappointing the fans once the title is available.

The two new characters that will be added are called Sombra and Liao. According to Game Director Jeff Kaplan, Sombra’s arrival will most likely be a surprise. IGN reported that the game developer has already set up a few clues to be discovered by the gamers. The new competitive mode has already been made available as a beta, and it will have unique features. Activision claims that the new mode will provide the features necessary to foster competition.

Kaplan also revealed that the studio will release a patch that will lower the damage caused by Torbjorn’s turret by 30% on the Xbox from Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) and the PlayStation from Sony Corp (NYSE:SNE). The studio did not release the actual release date for the patch though Microsoft and Sony has already certified it. The game director also revealed that there would be no changes for the PC version of the game.

A significant number of fans have complained that the change is too much, and Activision might be considering a few more tweaks. The studio is yet to reveal any more details about the competitive mode though it is expected to reveal more sometime soon along with the introduction of new maps.
